Romeo as one of the main characters in the book ‘Romeo and Juliet’ has really different characteristics than others in the book. He is a person who looks forward to find true love and take every relationship seriously. The first time he comes into the scene is in Act1 scene1, when Romeo is depressed because his love Rosaline rejects him. The first impression of Romeo would be that, he is an emotional person who always thinks deeply.  He speaks by using oxymoron which expresses his sadness. For instance he says ‘cold fire’ ‘heavy lightness’ and ‘loving hate’. His poetic language tells the audience that he is a person who expresses himself emotionally. Personally.         I kind of like Romeo this character, because he treats every single relationship thoughtfully and his language is very beautiful. However, I think that his seriousness might be one if the factors which leads him to death, since he loves Juliet so much that he thinks on...

Thoughts of the three performances

The common in all three performances would be the scene when Juliet and Romeo first meet. This part is important is because it shows the theme of first sight of love, which also shows that Romeo is an emotional person who can easily be controlled by love.

Romeo and Juliet Notes Act1scene1-3 and Act1scene4-5

Act one  first half A fight between Capulet and Montague which is ended by the Prince. Some sexism is showed in the scene, for example, 'Thrust to the wall.' 'My naked weapon is out.' At the meantime shows that the Prince is the most powerful character in this city. Oxymoron is used to show Romeo's sadness caused by the rejection by Rosalina. Examples  'brawling love'. 'Loving hate'. 'Heavily lightness.' When Benvolio meets Romeo, Romeo told him that his love Rosaline just rejects him, and he is extremely sad now. Then Benvolio told him that he heard that there is a ball hold by Capulet tonight and Rosaline is invited to the party, so they decide to go. Lady Capulet meets Juliet and tells her that she will meet Paris who is one of the richest man in the city, and see if she wants to marry him. Act1 scene 4-5 Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio come to the ball, when they are on their way to the ball, Romeo mentions that he has h...

Devising experience

Devising theater experience           The devising piece that my group performed is named 'broken' . The story basically is about a freshman student Fred (performed by Yun) as the weakest kid in the school is always the target that gets bullied by Mike(me). His sister Serena (Madison) always tries to protect him, until one day Fred blames on Serena that the bully is all started by her because her protection makes him a little sissy. Eventually after the argument Fred apologizes to Serena and the broken fences is fixed and becomes stronger.            Personally I came up with the idea that the family symbolizes the fences which protects the children. Also for the staging part, I suggested that the narrator(Stella) should stand on the left-down part of the stage which does not interrupt the main performers to perform and also create a boundary which separates the narrator and the other characters, this idea is effective...

Devising theate notes

Devising Collaborative creation. Partly improvisation partly stick with script  Focusing on form, then extract thematic ideas and then recreate them.  Begin without a script. Strong tool in creating conversation within an audience. Devising theater can start with a game form in order to get ideas and inspired by others. Methods of devising depends on the style of the performance group such as naturalistic group and choreographic group. In my opinion, devising theater is a really good way to develop your skills of creating your own piece of performance. Also can make all the members in your performance group involved in the process of creating.
