Review
In December 14, I watched the film version of ‘glass Menagerie’ in Ms.Guarino’s classroom. The film basically tells a story of a poor family in Saint Louis that the father left, so there are only the mother Amanda, daughter Laura, and the son Tom. Tom’s dream is to become a writer, but the poor condition and his mother’s restrictions keep him from chasing the dream. Until one day Tom brings his friend Jim to his house, who is from Laura’s high school. Laura admired Jim since high school, but Jim is already engaged, Therefore Laura gives her favorite glass Menagerie to Jim as a gift, then Tom leaves the house and starts to chase his dream. There are multiple themes in this movie, including love, dream, poverty, hate and hope. In one of these many, in my opinion the most interesting one would be hope, since there are multiple symbolism for it.
