Pick two Haikus

Cherry blossoms bloom Rumbly showers from the sky Peace out, winter gloom! This is a Haiku describes the welcome to upcoming spring.  This is a good Haiku because first, the first stanza and the last stanza rhyme which sounds good to our ears. Secondly the whole Haiku has a joyful tone which emphasizes the happiness of celebrating spring. Punctuation at the end also sets up a happy tone. Salt water splashing Sea creatures play hide and seek In the deep blue sea This Haiku uses personification that describes sea creatures as humans, in order to set up a joyful tone. This is a haiku that describes nature.

in class writing

Sam:  Criteria A: 4           Criteria B: 9           Criteria C: 5 Sam’s literary analysis is excellent because she has great explanation of the play. For instance, she talks about foreshadowing and gives multiple quotes to develop her point of view. Performance wise, she has great details of how she used her voice and body language. It was so detailed that she talks about every part of her body. She also has a strong introduction that explains her thesis. Her paragraphs are clear to read with no grammar mistakes.  From Sam’s essay, one of the things I learned is that for every paragraph, I need strong topic and ending sentence, so that a paragraph would be fully completed. Also I need a clear structure of telling what this paragraph is talking about, because it would be more convenient to the readers. Julia:  Criteria A: 4                      ...

Final Draft

The broken menagerie, the broken dream, the broken family Chak ho (David) Chau March 9, 2018 Word count: 1770 ‘The Glass Menagerie’ is written by Tennessee Williams that is based on his own memory with some changes. It reflects the harsh society during the Great Depression, and how people give up their dreams due to the poor conditions. The story focuses on the character Tom Winfield who dreams to become a writer but instead works in a warehouse because of his family’s poor financial condition. His mother Amanda wants to find a husband for her physically disabled daughter Laura desperately, who is too shy to interact with others, her only hobby is to collect glass menagerie. The part that my group (Stella, David and I) chose to act was the combination of Act1 scene2 and scene3. The conversations between Amanda and her children, and how she keeps annoying Tom and Tom is eventually outraged and accidentally breaks Laura’s glass menagerie. The the...

self evaluation

A:3 B:6 C:   3 I have a lot of things need to work on. For the literary analysis part, Maybe I should write more about how does one quote affect the whole play and what does the character think when he says this line. I also should use different vocabulary, because for now, I use a same word multiple times. For performance analysis, I should write more about the various acting techniques and how they can emphasize something, and why did I choose to use these techniques. For language wise, I found multiple grammar mistakes, so for the final draft, all these mistakes should be corrected. Maybe I can ask others to read my essay, so that they can point out some mistakes and give me some ideas of what to write about.

musical review

Winter Musical review  The play “Les Miserable” is written by famous writer Victor Hugo as one of the most historical tragic story in the history. The story starts with Jean Valjean, a slave who was caught stealing bread due to starvation, gets of prison after 19 years of torture and heavy lifting works. After a series of being humiliated and disrespected by others, Jean eventually understands the harshness of the society. Few years later Jean becomes a mayor. Everything is fine until Javert, the police chief who has talked to Jean when he was still in prison, recognizes him again. When Jean Valjean is escaping, he meets Fantine, a who has a 13 years old daughter named Cosette. Cosette eventually leaves with Jean Valjean. They have been through French revolution. On March 24 th , I watched this play presented by CA varsity players in the black box.  One of the major themes would be prejudice. Throughout the play, there is a group of people who are treated unequally wh...
