Romeo and Juliet Notes Act1scene1-3 and Act1scene4-5
Act one first half
A fight between Capulet and Montague which is ended by the Prince.
Some sexism is showed in the scene, for example,
'Thrust to the wall.'
'My naked weapon is out.'
At the meantime shows that the Prince is the most powerful character in this city.
Oxymoron is used to show Romeo's sadness caused by the rejection by Rosalina.
Examples 'brawling love'. 'Loving hate'. 'Heavily lightness.'
When Benvolio meets Romeo, Romeo told him that his love Rosaline just rejects him, and he is extremely sad now. Then Benvolio told him that he heard that there is a ball hold by Capulet tonight and Rosaline is invited to the party, so they decide to go.
Lady Capulet meets Juliet and tells her that she will meet Paris who is one of the richest man in the city, and see if she wants to marry him.

Juliet is a shy character who is only 13 but already need to decide about the marriage. Daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet
Nurse. Works for Capulet, mainly takes care of Juliet and gives her advice.
Tybalt. He is a pugnacious character who only wants to fight and he hates Montague deeply.
Mercutio has a strong sense of humor that he can describe Queen Mab in such a interesting way. And how he criticizes it can show that he is not religious, he is more like a realistic person.
It is ironic to compare Lady Capulet and the nurse. Because it seems like the nurse cares more about Juliet than lady Capulet who only cares about the higher power brought by the marriage between Paris and Juliet

Act1 scene 4-5
Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio come to the ball, when they are on their way to the ball, Romeo mentions that he has had a mysterious dream last night about men and women, Mercutio says it is Queen Mab and he explains to them what it is and kind of criticizes this stupid theory.
When they come to the ball, Tybalt, the son of Capulet sees them and he tells Lord Capulet and asks if he can kill them. However Lord Capulet is drank and rejects Tybalt to kill them. During the party, Romeo meets Juliet and they soon fall in love deeply. Eventually Romeo people leave in a rush. Then, both of them are told that each other is from the enemy side. Act 1 ends.
There are lots of religious language are used when Romeo and Juliet meet.
