The characters we chose were Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt, Friar Lawrence, nurse, Prince, Paris, Lady Capulet, and Benvolio. All these characters play significant roles in the play, they are all responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Each of them represents a main theme in the play.

Romeo holds letter Friar Lawrence wrote him. This prop represents the theme of fate and destiny and also love. Romeo never gets the letter from Friar Lawrence, which emphasizes that his death is unchangable. When he is holding the letter, he should kneel on the ground which shows the power of fate that brings him to death, and also shows that he still hopes to be with Juliet and the whole plan comes true, which shows the theme of love.

Juliet holds a Kaleidoscope. The Kaleidoscope represents Juliet’s changes through the play. At first she is innocent and shy, but toward the end if the play she becomes independent and brave, these changes can be perfectly portrayed by the color changing in the Kaleidoscope. Juliet will hold the Kaleidoscope and turn it. This action shows that she is changing and growing up. This effect shows that Juliet’s significant change leads her to the death.

Mercutio will hold a ironic comic book while he is standing. The ironic comic book shows his characteristics which is humorous and critical. He can criticize the Queen Mab in a funny and entertaining way. Ironically, when he is about to die, he still tries to be humorous. When he is performing, he should hold the book and point at it as if he is laughing at it.

Tybalt should hold a sword. As the most pugnacious character throughout the play, sword can represent his violent side. He should hold the sword and point at Romeo (or any Montagues), which shows that Tybalt always wants to pick up a fight between two families.

Nurse should be holding a Towel, since her responsibility is to take care of Juliet. The towel represents the pure soul the Nurse has, because she always hopes Juliet can be happy.

Friar Lawrence hold be holding a bible since he is a god father. The Bible also shows the theme of fate in this play. In addition, the Bible is used since there are a lot of religious imagery used throughout the play. When Friar Lawrence is performing, he should look up sadly as if he is crying for the death of Romeo and Juliet.

Prince holds a scepter in the play. Because he has the highest power in the play. Holding the scepter means he is controlling the city of Verona. He should point at the two lords of two families by using his scepter, which shows that both families need to listen to him.

Lady Capulet should hold a play dough on stage. Because she hides her own personality, instead, she does what Lord Capulet asks her to do. This prop represents the low status Lady Capulet has, also the sexism exits in the play. While she is performing, she should kneel down as if the pressure of men is manipulating her.

Paris should hold a credit card since he is very rich. In the city if Verona, money means everything. Paris should stand straight and smile when he is holding the credit card to show he power and
 pride of himself.

Benvolio should hold a white pigeon. As one of the peacemakers in the play, Benvolio always wants to avoid conflict between the two families. White pigeon represents the sign of peace and love. When he is holding the prop, he should act like he is praying for peace and end of death.

I decided not to add in Lord Capulet since there are already two characters represent power (Prince and Paris). So there is no point of adding more character to present on theme,
