Repetition makes perfection. The key to make an essay good and interesting to read is to constantly edit it, correct errors and think thoughtfully. My final draft of The Glass Menagerie essay clearly needs to be paid more attention on. There are multiple parts of the essay could be corrected, in order to make my essay better.
First of all, a strong thesis statement means a strong start of the essay, which will grab reader’s attention effectively. I certainly did not accomplish this. Instead of a statement, I wrote ‘I will discuss the literature techniques…’. I should not inform reader what I’m going to do, but to state out my understandings of the book. An analytical thesis statement weight 10 points in total, which is a high portion of the total mark, therefore I have to make it perfect. Secondly, I’ve made a huge mistake on my conclusion of the essay. I did not think thoughtfully of it, this is why I only wrote the conclusion on one aspect, which is just about performing. To conclude the whole essay, I need to sum up my play setting, literary analysis and character at the end too, in order to make the essay completed. For my final draft, maybe I can explore my character more and write a summary of him.
A good essay also requires good meaty paragraphs, which is like an iceberg that develops the context deeper and deeper, it also needs a good topic sentence and a strong ending sentence. For my draft, I think my topic sentence is appropriate and tells my central idea of the paragraph well, and my middle part of the paragraph is good too, I developed the theme and characters well. However, all of my ending sentences are terrible. For instance, my third paragraph’s ending sentence makes me feel like I finished it in a rush, this might confuse reader. Therefore, for my final draft I will focus more on the ending sentences and makes it reflects my topic sentence. I am also disappointed at myself because of my incorrect form of citation, this should be the easy marks, but I did not put the page of the quotes. These small details will define what kind of grade I will get.
In conclusion, I will definitely double check my work after I finish. I will minimise my grammar mistakes to zero, make sure my sentences make sense and connect smoothly with each other. Overall, I still have a lot to work on, and I will try my best to make my final draft look perfect.
