Who am I?
I’m the narrator of the play who explains what happens in the play and explore the emotions characters. I do not show much characteristics since I’m the narrator.
When?
The play happened in 1937. The time when Haitian people were struggling which Pasley Masscre was happening. Voodoo religion was popular at that period of time. The time is important since it explains why Josephine’s mother is in the prison.
Where am I?
I’m wherever the other characters are since as the narrator I am not in the same world with them. I need to be behind them, and as they freeze, I will come up and explain the scene.
What is surrounding me?
I am surrounded by the harsh society which has wrong religion and full of conflicts and misunderstanding. However, I’m not affected by the surroundings since I’m the narrator which technically means I’m not in this whole story.
The given circumstances?
A harsh period of Haiti. Voodoo religion is everywhere, Pasley Masscre was happening, and people were under the pressure of war. I will explain the story of Josephine.
My relationships
I’m not related to other characters, but I do know all their stories and what they are thinking when they are facing a situation. I see through all the events with a godlike view.
What do I want?
I want to reflect the emotions of the characters and let the audience understand the story better. I’m different from other characters because I’m not actually in the story.
What are my obstacles?
I have no obstacles... I explain the whole story as an outsider.
What do I do to get what I want?
I take no actions, I should narrate the story without personal feelings.
