individual update

Throughout the past few days of group work on the performance, my group had lots of progress that made the performance much better. We first spent a few days running the lines over and over again just to memorize them better since we did have lots of issues on memorization on lines. Then, we discussed how to add emotions into the lines in order to make the performance more interesting to watch. Personally, because I do not have any actual interaction with other performers, it is harder for me to show emotions. Therefore, I thought that it would be a good idea to focus more on my voice. Thus, I watched my first draft of the performance and found out that my voice was too deep and did not show any inner thoughts. I decided to work on my voice and switching the emotions as the tone of the performance changes. When I am talking about how I love and miss Josephine, my voice should be soft and gentle. When I am talking about how Celianne dies and the brutality of people, I need to show the anger deep inside me, but at the same time fear of dying. Besides voices, I realized that movement will be a big part of the performance as well. I decided that I need to move around the chair more, instead of what I did in the first draft, which is just sitting and talking. To sum up, I believe that spacing is crucial to improving the performance. We also finished the voice-over recording, which is done by Stella Chen; we thought that because Stella has the least line and the story is mainly about her, doing the voice-over can help her to understand her character better. We finished out lighting by changing the small range spotlight to a wider range, which allows us to move more freely on stage.
